Illusionist is a solo killer role. It is the advanced role of Corruptor.[1]
Role Description[]
The Illusionist can disguise people every night. Disguised people will appear to be Illusionists to seers. He can also kill all disguised people at once during the day which will appear as illusionist and their original role won't be shown. Those players can't be revived.
The Illusionist cannot be killed by Werewolves.
Win Conditions[]
The Illusionist wins if they are the last player alive.
Interactions[]
- Marked players by the Illusionist if checked by a Seer, Wolf Seer or etc. will be seen as an Illusionist even after the death of the original Illusionist.
- Marked players who are killed by the Illusionist will appear be part of the faction Illusionist when checked by a Violinist.
- Disguised players cannot be revived by a Medium nor can their role be used by a Conjuror, but they can be revived by a Ritualist.
- When a disguised target is checked by Aura Seer, it will show as unknown.
- When a disguised target is enchanted by the Wolf Shaman and is checked by an investigative role, that player will be seen as Wolf Shaman.
- When a disguised target is checked by Seer, Wolf Seer or Sorcerer, it will show as Illusionist.
- When a disguised target is checked by Blind Werewolf, it will show as killer.
Strategy[]
- The Illusionist's greatest strength is it's ability to fool investigative roles, so it is recommended to disguise targets and fool these investigative roles to cause chaos in the village, this will often result in many important village abilities on being wasted which is a good situation for you to have a winning chance.
- The Illusionist can also adapt another strategy, and that is to kill immediately during the day, much like a Corruptor but much more immediate, often giving no time for the target to give their information as an information role or properly use their abilities like an Astronomer or Vigilante.
- More often that not, you will win as Illusionist as long as the number of Villagers is thinned out enough that they would rather let the Illusionist win than the Werewolves win, just be aware that certain roles like Split Wolf, Junior Werewolf, Wolfluencer and Shadow Wolf are roles which can turn the tide depending on the circumstances involved.
Trivia[]
- It was introduced in the 0.35.2 update.
- In old versions, players killed by the Illusionist did not get their roles disguised, but revealed after their deaths.
- It's hard for Illusionist to win in 1v1 against a villager role if the Illusionist player does not have fast hands as the villager can skip discussing time, while the Illusionist can only kill during the discussion time. If this happens 3 days in a row, it will result in a tie.
- In the former version, the Illusionist will appear as "did not kill" to the Spirit Seer when they killed. But now they will appear as "did kill" to Spirit Seer.
